The House System at Horizon International Bilingual School
Building Belonging, Leadership & School Spirit Through Community
School life at Horizon International Bilingual School extends far beyond the classroom. The Horizon House System was created to foster connection, belonging, leadership, and school spirit while helping students build meaningful relationships and lifelong memories throughout their educational journey.
Through teamwork, friendly competition, and shared experiences, students are encouraged to grow in confidence, responsibility, collaboration, and pride as valued members of the Horizon community.
A Dynamic Beginning to Every Academic Year
Each academic year begins with a vibrant and energetic Grand Opening Ceremony, where students proudly unite with their House teams to celebrate the start of a new journey together.
The event features exciting activities and competitions such as:
- House Spirit Showcase
- House Cheer & Slogan Challenge
- Creative performances and team presentations
- Collaborative games and team-building activities
This memorable celebration sets a positive tone for the year ahead while encouraging teamwork, enthusiasm, resilience, and a strong sense of school identity.
Four Houses – One Horizon Family
From the moment students join Horizon, they become part of one of four Houses and remain connected to their House community until graduation.
Each House represents its own unique character, values, and spirit:
Yellow House – Cheetah
“One Team, One Dream!”Green House – Green Hydras
“Unity is our Strength!”Blue House – Wolves
“No Pain, No Gain!”Red House – Red Dragons
“Hearts of Fire, Hands of Steel!”
The House System creates opportunities for students across different year groups to connect, collaborate, support one another, and grow together within an inclusive and caring school environment.
Encouraging Leadership, Teamwork & Positive Values
Throughout the year, Houses earn points through a variety of achievements and contributions, including:
- Academic excellence
- Positive behaviour and responsibility
- Participation in school events
- Sports competitions and team activities
- Community service and social responsibility projects
- Leadership involvement and school spirit
Weekly House meetings, cross-grade bonding activities, and leadership opportunities help students strengthen communication skills, teamwork, resilience, confidence, and a deeper sense of belonging within the Horizon community.
Celebrating Achievement & School Pride
At the end of each academic year, the House with the highest number of points is proudly awarded the title of House Champion — a special recognition celebrated by the entire school community.
More importantly, the House System helps students understand the value of collaboration, perseverance, leadership, and mutual support while creating unforgettable memories and friendships that continue long beyond graduation.
More Than Competition — A Sense of Belonging
The Horizon House System is more than a programme of activities and competitions. It is an important part of student life that helps every child feel connected, supported, and inspired to contribute positively to the school community.
Through shared experiences, school spirit, and teamwork, students develop confidence, character, leadership, and a global mindset while building friendships and memories that become a meaningful part of their Horizon journey.
