At Horizon International Bilingual School, safety is not simply a procedure, it is an essential part of everyday school life. We are committed to creating a secure, supportive, and well-prepared environment where students feel protected, empowered, and cared for, and where families can place their trust with confidence each day.

Fire safety plays a vital role in this commitment. Through regular fire drills, clear evacuation procedures, and carefully coordinated staff responsibilities, students are guided to respond calmly, responsibly, and confidently during emergency situations. These practices help foster a culture of awareness, resilience, and shared responsibility across the entire school community.

Our campus safety procedures are designed with clarity and care. Clearly marked evacuation routes, supervised movement to safe areas, emergency attendance systems, floor checks, and structured reporting processes ensure that every student and staff member is accounted for during drills and emergency responses. 

Every emergency response is supported through a coordinated team approach. Teachers, class monitors, floor supervisors, security personnel, the Safeguarding Team, and the Operations Manager each play clearly defined roles to ensure that all procedures are carried out efficiently, calmly, and with student well-being at the center of every action.

Fire Drill Protocols

When the fire alarm sounds, students and staff are expected to evacuate immediately in a calm and orderly manner, following the guidance of supervising adults and using designated emergency exit routes. To ensure a smooth and efficient evacuation process, personal belongings should be left behind.

In the absence of a teacher, students are expected to line up responsibly and follow the published evacuation procedures independently and maturely.

Whenever possible, teachers or class monitors collect the emergency folder from the classroom emergency box before evacuating. This folder supports attendance verification and reporting at the assembly point. If the folder is unavailable, attendance is still carefully checked and reported directly to the Safeguarding Team.

Before leaving any room, staff members ensure that no one remains inside and close the door once the area has been cleared. Floor supervisors then conduct checks of classrooms, restrooms, and assigned spaces to confirm that all individuals have evacuated safely.

At the emergency assembly area, attendance is taken immediately. A green card indicates that all students are present, while a red card signals that a student may be missing or still inside the building.

Students and staff remain at the assembly area until the official all-clear announcement is given by the Safeguarding Team or Operations Manager.

Throughout the process, students are encouraged to remain calm, move quickly without running, and follow instructions with maturity, awareness, and respect for others. These routines are an important part of helping students develop confidence, responsibility, and preparedness in emergency situations.
