In a thrilling showcase of skill and determination, the Horizon Girls Volleyball team, under the leadership of team captain Julia Miyazaki, engaged in a friendly match against Brighton College girls’ team on January 19 at the Horizon sports grounds. Despite encountering challenges, such as Brighton's early 10-point lead in the first set, the Horizon volleybelles, notably grade 9 student Kim Jiyeong, delivered an impressive display of strong serves and commendable performance. Although Horizon Team bounced back in a competitive second set, the match concluded with a 25-18 win for Brighton. Ms. Claire Azada, Horizon’s GVT coach, expressed satisfaction in the team's performance and fair play spirit.
Second play on 29 Jan, Horizon’s Boys Volleyball Team triumphed in their first friendly match against Brighton College Volleyball Team at the Horizon Sports Grounds. Led by captain Phan Tuan Minh and opposite hitter Thein Le Quan, the team showcased a powerful start, executing signature plays with impactful spikes. Well-placed serves from Phung Kien Quoc and effective floor defense by libero Duong Duc Anh contributed to Horizon claiming the first set with a resounding 25-14 win. The second set proved more competitive, yet Horizon maintained control and secured another 25-14 victory. The third set, led by spikers Zunaed Siddique and Mai Hoang Anh, culminated in a dominant 25-12 victory, marking a stellar performance. Team setter Sami Janjua expressed their unwavering efforts and determination, signaling a promising start for the BVT as they look forward to upcoming competitions in Ha Noi. The Horizon School volleyball teams continue to exemplify sportsmanship and excellence, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
