Strategic Guidance from the School Leadership

The session commenced with strategic direction from the School Leadership and Board of Principals, emphasising the importance of aligning educational objectives with Horizon’s vision and mission. Every teacher is encouraged to have a thorough understanding of, and to uphold, the school’s core values, thereby contributing to the creation of a high-quality educational environment where pupils remain at the centre of every activity. The inspirational messages from the leadership team instilled a strong sense of responsibility, creativity, and determination amongst all teachers, laying a firm foundation for a successful and impactful academic year.

In-depth Professional Training

Teachers were introduced to an Overview of the Cambridge Curriculum, including its pedagogical approach, learning resources, and expected learning outcomes. The session also featured in-depth training on the Phonics Programme and Reading & Writing Assessments, providing teachers with a clear understanding of the language skills development pathway – from phonemic awareness to reading comprehension and writing – supported by effective, regular assessment tools.

Integrating Educational Technology

In addition, teachers participated in Toddle Training, during which they were introduced to and practised using the Toddle Learning Management Platform – an essential tool for lesson design, tracking pupil progress, and maintaining effective communication with parents.
